Don't try to take your bike on a train from 7-9:30, people are super rude and won't make room for you. If you can, just drop it at the 19th street bike station.

Next level BART riding: getting on the train at the right doors, so that you get off right in front of the stairs to the exit you want.

The water fountains at not both These stations(19th and 12th) are broken and neither has bathrooms of any kind. The surrounding area of Oakland also has no bathrooms or water fountains.

Watch out for the blood and piss that can be found in the street elevators. These stations on broadway are so awful. Probably why I never go to downtown Oakland.

If you're new to these trains pay attention to what platform your train boards on. This station has multiple levels.

Walk to Oakland Chinatown nearby. A showcase of pan-Asian culture and less touristy than the one in San Francisco; go early for first pick of the day’s produce.
