It is kind of historical street for Taiwan..you can face some gig and exhibition when you visit here (if you are lucky)

转自wiki解惑地名：根据《台北市志》：“艋舺有北皮寮街，又称剥皮寮街，北皮寮后有一词应是杀牲制革所在，所制成品不外乎皮箱、枕、鼓。”意即剥兽皮而得名。但根据地方耆老所言，剥皮寮乃因清朝时期福州商船运进杉木，在此剥去树皮而得名。

A great place to learn about the history of Taipei. Very nice and well preserved heritage buildings.
