The nicest way to do cross I-5 is Freeway Park, which sits atop the highway and uses waterfalls and trees to conceal the traffic noise. Don’t plan on it being easy to find your way through, though.

The city really is trying to clean up this park's image and get normal law-abiding people to enjoy it. It really is a beautiful place, and the water sculpture is so cool! Check it out! (but don't fall
